French Chocolate Bark
This weekend I am finally having my "Friendsgiving Feast" and I couldn't be more excited. I didn't want to do a turkey, but still wanted to give a nod to the upcoming holiday. I chose a menu with some fall-inspired decadent dishes - brie en croute, stuffing, pumpkin cheesecake - but also one that won't leave everyone going home completely stuffed like a turkey - salad instead of creamed spinach, healthier sweet potatoes. I like that I can make most of the meal ahead of time. The brie needs to stand for some 45 minutes before my guests arrive, the potatoes and stuffing can be reheated and are actually better that way - who doesn't like their stuffing crisped up a bit, right?! With the menu set all that is left in terms of planning is my table setting and I want to go all out. I'm thinking burlap, gourds, pumpkins, candles, harvest-like flowers... I can't wait!
