mamagyro

I'm half Greek and love a good gyro.  I never really ate them outside of Greece, however, until I discovered mamagyro on Lexington between 77th and 78th.  Not only do they use all natural, fresh ingredients, but they put a couple of french fries inside their gyros - to me this is an essential element of a gyro, one that every other gyro in Manhattan seems to be missing.  The chicken gyro on a whole wheat pita with mama sauce and all the fixings is just $4 and is my go to order (pictured above).  The menu doesn't end there though; mamagyro also has delicious souvlaki, salads, dips (I love the spicy feta and tarama), and other Greek specialties.  You've got to try it!

OMG Baklava!  They also have delicious Kourabiedes (Greek butter cookies covered in powdered sugar).

I love that these Greek juices line the top of the drink fridge.  They transport me back to being a child in Greece.
I think the mama gyro logo is very cool.  The store's design in general is very sleek and clean.
